...and I Survived
my first quarter at UC San Diego

I'm done! 1/6th done, that is.

Yeah, I don't have my grades, but I've finished all of my exams. Grading on a curve means a small percentage of my classmates will fall into an academic abyss from which they will never return, but I don't think I'm one of them. I was worried about statistics because I failed the class as an undergrad (which, in retrospect seems obvious, since I usually arrived on hour late to an hour and a half lecture) but I got just below the mean in this class. That means B, baby! And since this isn't law school or business school, I'm happy. As we say here, "Bs get degrees."

Now to get around to personal projects that I've been neglecting, like finishing my Anhui posts, finding a summer internship, finishing some this and that, and watching pirated episodes of the Simpsons on DVD. Oh yes, the simple pleasures I've neglected while taking 19 credit hours.

Taking the Country by Train

I may post here again with more details on my upcoming itinerary before I leave on Saturday (2.5 days from now). But in case I don't, here's the gist of my one month cross-country jaunt:

--LA to Chicago by train
--Michigan for reunions
--VA for Santa's birthday at my Dad's
--DC
--China town bus to NYC for New Year's
--fly back to LA for school.

Give me a ring if we'll be near. I'll answer now. 858 699 5185.

Oh, and just so you know, Santa visited campus yesterday with Krispy Kremes. He's real, guys. And sexy...
